Dr. Sakeen Kashem is a physician scientist in the field of dermatology who grew up in Mount Laurel, NJ. He studied chemistry at New York University and then obtained his MD and PhD (Immunology) degrees from University of Minnesota. He subsequently performed his internship in Internal Medicine at the University of Texas Southwestern. He moved to San Francisco for his residency in dermatology at UCSF. He enjoys hiking and exploring different Bay Area neighborhoods in his free time and looks forward to taking care of all patients and their skin issues at Pleasanton Allergy and Dermatology.
Dr Richard Burroughs is a native of Pleasanton who attended Amador Valley High School. He is a veteran of the armed services, serving 20 years, before returning home to join our practice. He has now been with us for a decade serving his home town community.
Dr. Dean Merrill is from Kansas City, Missouri. He went to college at the University of Pennsylvania prior to returning to Kansas City for medical school at the University of Missouri, Kansas City. He then completed a research fellowship at the National Institutes of Health studying cutaneous immunity and the microbiome. After graduating, he did his internship in internal medicine at George Washington University and moved to the Bay Area for dermatology residency at the University of California, San Francisco.
Sarah J. Coates, MD, is a graduate of the UCSF Dermatology residency program, as well as a Fellow in Pediatric Dermatology at UCSF. Dr. Coates received her MD from Weill Cornell Medical College. Dr. Coates has been actively involved in international and global health. She is a recipient of the GloCal fellowship, in which she will work closely with infectious disease physicians to explore ways in which artificial intelligence may improve healthcare access and the speed of diagnosing Kaposi’s Sarcoma among HIV-positive patients. After the GloCal fellowship, she will complete additional pediatric dermatology training, and plans to build a global health career in pediatric dermatology, with specializations in infectious diseases and cutaneous oncology.
Dr. Katherine Fast is a graduate from Yale University medical school. She completed her residency and fellowship at Stanford University and completed her fellowship in Allergy and Immunology.
Dr. Mina Nguyen is board certified in pediatrics and Allergy/Immunology. After graduating from UCSF Medical School, Dr. Nguyen did her pediatric residency at UCSF, then Allergy fellowship at Children's National. She is the former chief of Allergy at Kaiser East Bay. Patient advocacy for quality allergy care is her top priority which is why she was recognized as the women allergist of the year in 2018 by the American College of Allergy and Immunology.
Dr. Dean Kardissakis, MD. is an allergy and Immunology specialist in San Mateo and Pleasanton, CA. He completed a residency at University Of Nevada School Of Medicine and completed his fellowship in Allergy and Immunology at the University San Francisco. Dr. Kardissakis has been treating patients in our office for over 20 years.
